AN ACT concerning

State Soil Conservation Committee - Membership

FOR the purpose of altering the membership of the State Soil
Conservation Committee; and altering the geographic areas
from which the Secretary shall appoint soil conservation
district supervisors.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 8-201(a) and (b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Agriculture

8-201.

(a) The following persons shall serve as members of the
Committee:

(1)  The Secretary, or any employee of the Department
he designates[.];

(2)  The Secretary of Natural Resources, or any
employee of the Department of Natural Resources whom he
designates;

(3)  THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE OR ANY
EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE
DESIGNATED BY THE SECRETARY;

[(3)] (4) The principal administrative official for
agricultural affairs at the University of Maryland as designated
by the president of the university;

[(4)] (5) The chairman of the Maryland Agricultural
Commission, or his designee;

[(5)] (6) The president of the Maryland Association
of Soil Conservation Districts;

[(6)] (7) [Four] 5 soil conservation district
supervisors representing the [four] 5 different geographic areas
of the State, as provided in subsection (b);
