Ch. 142

(iii) Shall be paid by the State Scholarship
Board directly to the School of Medicine; and

(iv) May be held as long as the recipient is
making satisfactory progress towards the degree of doctor of
medicine, but not longer than 4 years.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

(Senate Bill 957)

AN ACT concerning

Public Institutions of Higher Education -
Information Processing

FOR the purpose of providing that public institutions of higher
education and their governing boards are excepted from the
requirement that the Secretary of Budget and Fiscal Planning
review and approve the purchase, lease, or rental of
mechanical or electronic information processing equipment
and associated services to be used solely for educational
academic or research purposes; and limiting the equipment
and services which qualify for the exception.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 15A - Budget and Fiscal Planning

23B.

(a) [The] EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTIONS (B) AND (C) OF
THIS SECTION THE Secretary, after consultation with the State
Comptroller, shall be responsible for planning and controlling
information processing in the several departments and agencies of
the State government and shall review and have approval authority
