House Bill No. 1093

AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Pensions - Fire and Rescue Personnel

FOR the purpose of authorizing the County Commissioners of
Washington County to establish a pension benefits plan for
volunteer fire and rescue personnel in the county;
specifying certain provisions of the plan; making this Act
contingent on the taking effect of another Act; and
providing for its implementation by the County
Commissioners.

BY adding to

The Public Local Laws of Washington County
Section 23A-1 to be under the new subtitle

"23A. Pensions"
Article 22 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1970 Edition and 1979 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 22 - Washington County

23A. PENSIONS
23A-1.

(A)  UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF ARTICLE 25, § (3)(G) OF THE
ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE
AUTHORIZED TO ADOPT A PLAN OF PENSION BENEFITS FOR VOLUNTEER FIRE
AND RESCUE PERSONNEL BASED ON LENGTH OF SERVICE.

(B)  THE PLAN SHALL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING PROVISIONS:

(1)  PROVIDE BENEFITS FOR SERVICE FROM JULY 1, 1984;

(2)  PROVIDE BENEFITS FOR NOT MORE THAN 800 VOLUNTEER
FIRE AND RESCUE PERSONNEL;

(3)  PROVIDE MAXIMUM BENEFITS OF $100 PER MONTH OF
SERVICE UPON ATTAINING THE AGE OF 65 YEARS WITH 25 YEARS OF
SERVICE; AND
