AN ACT concerning
Dog Fighting Penalties
FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person with certain intent from
using, causing, or permitting dogs to fight for certain
purposes engage in the activity commonly known as "dog
fighting"; making a violation of this Act a felony
misdemeanor; providing certain penalties; and generally
relating to prohibiting dog fighting in the State.

FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person from using or permitting
a dog to be used in, arranging, or conducting a dogfight.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

59B.
(A) A PERSON MAY NOT WILLFULLY USE, CAUSE, OR PERMIT DOGS
TO FIGHT FOR ANY PURPOSE ENGAGE IN THE ACTIVITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS
"DOG FIGHTING" IN THE STATE.
(B) ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS SECTION
IS GUILTY OF A FELONY MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO
A FINE NOT EXCEEDING $5,000 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 1 YEAR
OR BOTH.
