I agree that the existing tax court system needs to be fully
evaluated and that a Task Force should be constituted immediately
to study the issue and provide recommendations prior to the 1985
Session. My objections to Senate Bill 416 lie in the composition
of the Task Force which I feel should be more representative of
the general public.
Notwithstanding my veto of this bill today, I intend to
appoint a Task Force before July 31, 1984 to carry out the
objectives of this legislation.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Tax Court - Appointment of Judges
FOR the purpose of reconstituting the Maryland Tax Court;
providing for the appointment of a certain number of judges;
establishing the salaries received by the judges;
establishing the qualifications, oath, and provisions to
which each judge is subject; terminating the present tax
court on a certain date; establishing an effective date; and
generally relating to the organization of the Maryland Tax
Court.
