SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 286.

This bill alters a provision prohibiting the State Highway
Administration from participating in the cost of procuring or
installing certain business signs along interstate highways.

House Bill 458, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 29, 1984, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 286.

AN ACT concerning

State Highway Administration Transportation -
Specific Information or Business Signs

FOR the purpose of repealing altering a provision prohibiting the
State Highway Administration from participating in the cost
of procuring or installing certain business signs along
interstate highways; providing that the State Highway
Administration and the Maryland Transportation Authority may
place certain signs along interstate highways, expressways,
or primary highway; certain interstate highways in certain
