(1982 Replacement Volume and 1983 Supplement)

Preamble

WHEREAS, The State of Maryland finds and declares that the
reservation of the regulation of all forms of weaponry and
ammunition is necessary to preserve the peace, safety, and health
of the State; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

756.

THE STATE OF MARYLAND HEREBY PREEMPTS THE RIGHTS OF ANY
COUNTY, MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, OR SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT WHETHER
BY LAW, ORDINANCES, OR REGULATION TO REGULATE THE PURCHASE, SALE,
TAXATION, TRANSFER, MANUFACTURE, REPAIR, OWNERSHIP, POSSESSION,
AND TRANSPORTATION OF THE FOLLOWING:

(1)  ART. 27, § 36F(A) (HANDGUN);

(2)  ART. 27, § 36F(A)(1) (ANTIQUE FIREARM);

(3)  ART. 27,,§ 36F(A)(2) (RIFLE);

(4)  ART. 27, § 36F(A)(3) (SHORT-BARRELLED SHOTGUN);

(5)  ART. 27, § 36F(A)(4) (SHORT-BARRELLED RIFLE);

(6)  ART. 27, § 36F(A)(5) (SHOTGUN);

(7)  ART. 27, § 372 (MACHINE GUN);

(8)  ART. 27, § 139A (MOLOTOV COCKTAIL);

(9)  ART. 38A, § 26(A) (EXPLOSIVES); AND

(10)  AMMUNITION FOR THE ABOVE ENUMERATED ITEMS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That all laws or
parts of laws, public general or public local, inconsistent with
this Act, are repealed to the extent of the inconsistency.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.
