CHAPTER 758

(House Bill 202)

AN ACT concerning

Harford County - Liquor Control Board

FOR the purpose of increasing the membership of the Harford
County liquor control board; providing for a certain
qualification and the appointment of the board members;
providing for appointments to fill vacancies; providing for
a staggered term of office for the board members; providing
that certain provisions of this Act concerning terms of
office may not be construed to extend or apply to the
members in office on the effective date of this Act; and
generally relating to the Harford County liquor control
board.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

Section 159(b), (c)(1), (2), and (3), and (j)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1981 Replacement Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

159.

(b)   [The] EXCEPT IN HARFORD COUNTY, THE liquor control
board shall consist of three members in each county. Those
persons who are members of the respective boards on June 1, 1947,
shall continue as such for the balance of the period for which
they may have been appointed or elected, according to the terms
and conditions of their original appointment or election.
Provided that in Montgomery County, effective July 1, 1951, there
is hereby created the position of director of the department of
liquor control, who shall be the chief administrative officer of
said department of liquor control. IN HARFORD COUNTY, THE LIQUOR
CONTROL BOARD CONSISTS OF 5 MEMBERS.

(c)  (1) The members of the respective boards shall be
appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Senate.

(2) In Somerset County board members shall be
appointed by the Governor.
