(c)  Only one source of supply is available; or

(d)  The equipment to be purchased is of a technical nature
and the procurement thereof without advertising is necessary in
order to assure standardization of equipment and
interchangeability of parts in the public interest.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

AN ACT concerning

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority -
Metro Transit Police
PG/MC 10-84

FOR the purpose of amending the Washington Metropolitan Area
Transit Authority Compact to expand the jurisdiction of the
Metro Transit Police; providing the Metro Transit Police
with certain power to make arrests; increasing the authority
of the Metro Transit Police to carry certain weapons
approved under certain circumstances; permitting Metro
Transit officers to serve certain process in this State;
clarifying the rule making authority of the WMATA Board of
Directors; providing authority to impose, collect, and
enforce certain penalties for violation of certain rules and
regulations; increasing a certain fine defining a certain
term; and generally relating to the WMATA Metro Transit
Police.
