expeditiously.] EACH REAL ESTATE BROKER AND REAL ESTATE SALESMAN
WHO HAS NOT PAID THE GUARANTY FUND FEE PRIOR TO THE ENACTMENT OF
THIS SECTION OR WHO IS ENTITLED TO RECEIVE A LICENSE AFTER THE
ENACTMENT OF THIS SECTION, SHALL PAY A FEE OF $20 WHICH SHALL BE
CREDITED TO THE FUND.

(G) ANY PERSON FILING WITH THE COMMISSION ANY NOTICE,
STATEMENT, OR OTHER DOCUMENT REQUIRED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SECTION WHICH THE PERSON KNOWS TO BE FALSE OR UNTRUE OR TO
CONTAIN ANY MATERIAL MISSTATEMENT OF FACT SHALL BE FINED NOT LESS
THAN $200.

[(g)] (H) [Said] THE Commission [shall have power to] MAY
promulgate regulations to effect the efficient administration of
this section.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any provision
of this Act or the application thereof to any person or
circumstance is held invalid for any reason, the invalidity shall
not affect the other provisions or any other application of this
Act which can be given effect without the invalid provisions or
application, and to this end all the provisions of this Act are
declared to be severable.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Public Ethics Law - Members of the General Assembly

FOR the purpose of altering the provisions of the Maryland Public
Ethics Law concerning members of the General Assembly;
altering the areas on which advisory opinions may be issued
by the Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics; providing for
complaints for violations of certain ethical conduct;
providing for confidentiality; altering the preliminary
review process; providing for the termination of review
proceedings under certain circumstances; providing for
preliminary summaries; providing for notification; altering
the hearing process; requiring a certain record; providing
for action by a presiding officer of a chamber of the
General Assembly; establishing an investigating committee;
making stylistic changes; generally relating to the
