AN ACT concerning

Merit System - Baltimore City Weights and Measures Employees

FOR the purpose of including in the State Merit System any
full-time, permanent employee of Baltimore City engaged in
the administration and enforcement of weights and measures
laws immediately prior to the transfer of those functions to
the State Department of Agriculture; requiring that the
included employee be transferred to a comparable position in
the State classified service without further examination or
qualification; and prohibiting any diminution of the
accumulated annual leave or sick leave credited to the
included employee; and relating generally to the transfer of
certain employees of Baltimore City engaged in the
administration and enforcement of weights and measures laws
to the State Merit System.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 64A - Merit System

9V.

(A) ANY FULL-TIME, PERMANENT EMPLOYEE OF BALTIMORE CITY
ENGAGED IN THE ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF WEIGHTS AND
MEASURES LAWS IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE TRANSFER OF THOSE
FUNCTIONS TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE UNDER CHAPTER
619 OF THE ACTS OF 1983 SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE MERIT SYSTEM
UNDER THIS ARTICLE , . AND SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT TO
A COMPARABLE POSITION IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE UNDER THIS
ARTICLE WITHOUT FURTHER EXAMINATION OR QUALIFICATION.
