SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984 1985.

AN ACT concerning

Merit System - Contractual Employees

FOR the purpose of altering the criteria for certification of
contractual employees in the State; prohibiting the
continuation of certain contractual positions in the State
under certain conditions; providing for the transfer of
certain contractual employees into the State classified or

unclassified service under certain circumstances;

establishing certain criteria for the appointment of a
contractual employee to a classified or unclassified
position in the State; providing for certain benefits for
contractual employees who become employees of the classified
or unclassified service in the State; allowing the Secretary
of Personnel to continue the contract of a contractual
employee for a certain length of time in certain
circumstances; and generally relating to contractual
employees in the State.
