STATE FUNDING SHALL BE AS PROVIDED IN THE BUDGET.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

(House Bill 1334)

AN ACT concerning

Provisional License - Unsupervised Driving Hours

FOR the purpose of altering the period of time that an applicant
under the age of 18 shall possess a provisional driver's
license before applying for a driver's license; providing
that the Motor Vehicle Administration may modify or waive a

certain restriction on a provisional license if the

restriction would affect adversely an educational activity
of a holder of a provisional license; and altering the hours
during which the holder of a provisional driver's license
may drive without the supervision of a licensed driver who
is at least 21 years old.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 16-111.2(b), 16-113(c), and 16-113.1

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

16-111.2.

(b) If the applicant for a driver's license is under the
age of 18 and is the holder of a provisional driver's license,
the applicant is entitled to receive a driver's license if the
applicant:

(1) Has possessed a valid provisional driver's
license for the [six-month] 12-MONTH period immediately preceding
the date of the application for a driver's license;
