take effect July 1, 1984.

Housing Discrimination - Elderly

FOR the purpose of prohibiting a landlord, real estate agent, or
real estate broker from refusing to rent or sell to a person
at least 62 years of age or older under certain
circumstances.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 49B - Human Relations Commission

20.

(A) It shall be an unlawful discriminatory housing
practice, because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin,
marital status, or physical or mental handicap, for any person
having the right to sell, rent, lease, control, construct, or
manage any dwelling constructed or to be constructed, or any
agent or employee of such person:

(1) To refuse to sell or rent after the making of a
bona fide offer, or to refuse to negotiate for the sale or rental
of, or otherwise make unavailable or deny, a dwelling.
