SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 40 - General Assembly

89.

The Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics is established.
The committee consists of 12 members, 6 to be members of the
Senate of Maryland and 6 to be members of the House of Delegates
of Maryland, and these members shall include ex officio, the
President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
Delegates. AT LEAST 1 MEMBER OF THE SENATE AND 1 MEMBER OF THE
HOUSE SHALL BE APPOINTED FROM THE PARTY OF THE MINORITY LEADER.
The appointments shall be made by the President of the Senate and
the Speaker of the House who shall also appoint a chairman and
vice-chairman or two cochairmen. If cochairmen are appointed,
one cochairman shall be appointed by the President, and one
cochairman shall be appointed by the Speaker. [The appointees]
