things necessary and proper to provide for and hold the
referendum here required. There shall be printed on the ballots
or ballot labels to be used at this election the title of this
Act and underneath the title, on separate lines, a square or box

limitation restricting St. Mary's County Commissioners from

holding office for more than 3 consecutive terms" and a

corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the
words "Against abolishing the limitation restricting St. Mary's

County Commissioners from holding office for more than 3

consecutive terms" following:

An Act for the purpose of removing the restriction
prohibiting the St. Mary's County Commissioners from
serving more than three consecutive terms of office.

Underneath this title, on separate lines, there shall appear a
square or box, to the right of and opposite the word "For" and a
corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the word
"Against", so that each voter of the county may designate his or
her decision for or against the provisions of this Act. If a
majority of the votes cast in the election are "For" abolishing
the limitation restricting St. Mary's County Commissioners from
holding office for more than 3 consecutive terms", the provisions
of this Act shall become effective on the 30th day following the
official canvass of votes for the referendum, but if a majority
of the votes cast in the election are "Against" abolishing the
limitation restricting St. Mary's County Commissioners from
holding office for more than 3 consecutive terms", the provisions
of this Act shall be of no effect and null and void.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to the
provisions of Section 2 herein and for the sole purpose of
providing for the referendum therein required, this Act shall
take effect on July 1, 1984.
