LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 296

THE SUPPORT ORDER AS CONFIRMED HAS THE SAME EFFECT AND MAY
BE ENFORCED AS IF ORIGINALLY ENTERED IN A COURT OF THIS STATE.
THE PROCEDURES FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THE ORDER ARE AS IN CIVIL
CASES, INCLUDING THE POWER TO PUNISH THE OBLIGOR FOR CONTEMPT AS
IN THE CASE OF OTHER ORDERS FOR PAYMENT OF ALIMONY, MAINTENANCE,
OR SUPPORT ENTERED IN THIS STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Article
89C, § 36.

The only changes are in style.

Defined terms: "Court" § 10-301
"Including" § 1-101 "Obligor" § 10-301
"Support" § 1-101 "Support order" § 10-301

10-339. UNIFORM INTERPRETATION OF SUBTITLE.

THIS SUBTITLE SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO EFFECTUATE ITS GENERAL
PURPOSE TO MAKE UNIFORM THE LAW OF THOSE STATES THAT ENACT IT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Article
89C, § 38.

The former word "interpreted" is deleted as included
in "construed".

The only other changes are in style.

Defined terms: "Law" § 10-301
"State" § 10-301

10-340. SHORT TITLE.

THIS SUBTITLE SHALL BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND UNIFORM
RECIPROCAL ENFORCEMENT OF SUPPORT ACT".

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Article
89C, § 39.

A reference is conformed to the organization of this
subtitle.

The word "Maryland" is added to the name of the act to
indicate that it is the Uniform Act of this State, and
not necessarily the Uniform Act as adopted by other
states.

The only other changes are in style.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:

Former Article 89C, § 37, which related to severability, is
deleted as unnecessary in light of Article 1, § 23 of the Code.
