"ADMINISTRATION" MEANS THE CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT
ADMINISTRATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to
avoid repetition of the full title of the "Child
Support Enforcement Administration of the Department
of Human Resources".

Defined term: "Support" §§ 1-101 and 10-101

(C)  EARNINGS.

"EARNINGS" INCLUDES ANY FORM OF PERIODIC PAYMENT TO AN
INDIVIDUAL, INCLUDING:

(1)  AN ANNUITY;

(2)  A PENSION;

(3)  SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS;

(4)  WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION PAYMENTS; AND

(5)  UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 16, § 5B(a)(2).

Item (5) of this subsection is new language added to
reflect the holding in Pope v. Pope, 283 Md. 531
(1978). See also Article 95A, § 5A of the Code.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined term: "Includes";"including" § 1-101

(D)  EMPLOYER.

(1)  "EMPLOYER" MEANS ANY PERSON WHO IS PAYING
EARNINGS TO AN OBLIGOR.

(2)  "EMPLOYER" INCLUDES A GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 16, § 5B(a)(3).

The defined term "obligor" is substituted for the
former term "individual", for clarity.

The phrase "governmental entity" is substituted for
the former phrase "public entity", for clarity.

The only other changes are in style.
