In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the former
clause "when the court shall be satisfied by competent
testimony" and the former references to "the party
complained against" and the "party complaining" are
deleted as unnecessary.
In subsections (a)(2) and (e)(2) of this section, the
word "desertion" is substituted for the former word
"abandonment" to conform to the language used
elsewhere throughout this title.
In subsection (a)(2)(i), (4), and (5) of this section,
the phrase "before the filing of the application for
divorce" is new language added to conform to practice
and to the language used throughout this title.
In subsection (a)(3) of this section, the phrase
"voluntary separation" is new language added for
clarity and to conform to the language used throughout
this title.
In subsection (a)(3)(i) and (5) of this section, the
word "parties" is substituted for the former language
"husband and wife", for brevity.
In subsection (a)(3)(i) and (6)(i) of this section,
the phrase "application for divorce" is substituted
for the former phrase "bill of complaint" to conform
to the language used elsewhere throughout this title.
In subsection (a)(4) of this section, the word
"defendant" is substituted for the former language
"party complained against", for brevity.
Also in subsection (a)(4) of this section, the former
word "penitentiary" is deleted as included in "penal
institution".
In subsection (a)(5) of this section, the term "2-year
separation" is new language added for clarity and to
conform to the language used elsewhere throughout this
section.
Also in subsection (a)(5) of this section, the former
phrase "on the application of either party" is deleted
as unnecessary.
In the introductory language of subsection (a)(6) of
this section, the word "insanity" is substituted for
the former clause "either husband or wife has become
permanently and incurably insane", for brevity.
In subsection (a)(6)(i) of this section, the term
"insane spouse" is substituted for the former language
"permanently incurable insane person", for brevity.
