LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 296

The word "arrangement" is substituted for the former
word "placement" to avoid confusion with the defined
term "placement for adoption", which would be
illogical in this context.

No other changes are made.

Defined term: "Child placement agency" § 5-301

(G) MINOR PARENT.

"MINOR PARENT" MEANS A PARENT WHO, AT THE TIME OF GIVING
CONSENT TO GUARDIANSHIP OR ADOPTION OF THE PARENT'S CHILD, IS A
MINOR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 16, § 68(h).

The only other changes are in style.

(H) PLACEMENT FOR ADOPTION.

"PLACEMENT FOR ADOPTION" MEANS THE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD TO
LIVE WITH A FAMILY OR INDIVIDUAL APPROVED FOR ADOPTION BY A CHILD
PLACEMENT AGENCY, WITH THE INTENT THAT THE CHILD BE ADOPTED BY
THE FAMILY OR INDIVIDUAL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 16, § 68(i).

The word "individual" is new language added for
clarity. See the revisor's note to subsection (d) of
this section.

The word "home", which formerly followed "family", is
deleted as unnecessary.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined term: "Child placement agency" § 5-301

5-302. SCOPE OF SUBTITLE.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE, THIS SUBTITLE
DOES NOT AFFECT ANY ADOPTION FOR WHICH A FINAL DECREE WAS ENTERED
BEFORE JUNE 1, 1947, NOR ANY ADOPTION PROCEEDINGS PENDING AS OF
THAT DATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as the first
sentence of former Article 16, § 86.

The only changes are in style.

The second sentence of former Article 16, § 86, which
repealed any prior inconsistent laws, is deleted as
unnecessary.
