4-516. ADMINISTRATION OF BATTERED SPOUSE PROGRAM.

(A)  ANNUAL REPORT.

SUBJECT TO ARTICLE 40, § 51 OF THE CODE, THE SECRETARY SHALL
SUBMIT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY A REPORT ON THE BATTERED SPOUSE
PROGRAM ANNUALLY.

(B)   FUNDS.

IN ADDITION TO RECEIVING FUNDS FROM THE ANNUAL BUDGET, THE
SECRETARY SHALL ATTEMPT TO SECURE FUNDING, INCLUDING IN-KIND
CONTRIBUTIONS, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND OPERATION OF THE
BATTERED SPOUSE PROGRAM FROM:

(1)  THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT;

(2)  LOCAL GOVERNMENTS; AND

(3)  PRIVATE SOURCES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section formerly
appeared as Article 88A, § 103(d).

Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article 88A, §
104.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former phrase
"which shall include a report" is deleted as
repetitious of "report" and potentially confusing.

In subsection (b) of this section, the former phrase
"explore and" is deleted as repetitious of the phrase
"attempt to secure".

The only other changes are in style.

4-601. "DISPLACED HOMEMAKER" DEFINED.

IN THIS SUBTITLE, "DISPLACED HOMEMAKER" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL
WHO:

(1)   IS AT LEAST 35 YEARS OLD;

(2)  HAS WORKED FOR THE INDIVIDUAL'S FAMILY IN THE
FAMILY HOME;
