REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, § 79B.

The duty to proclaim John Hanson's birthday "annually"
is substituted for the former duty to "proclaim April
13 of each year", to conform to §§ 13-402 and 13-403
of this subtitle and, thus, to clarify that this
section imposes a continuing duty.

13-402. LAW DAY.

THE GOVERNOR ANNUALLY SHALL PROCLAIM MAY 1 AS LAW DAY U.S.A.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, § 78A.

The duty to proclaim Law Day "annually" is substituted
for the former duty to "proclaim and set aside in each
year", to clarify that this section imposes a
continuing duty. This substitution is based on
practice.

13-403. POETRY DAY.

(A) PROCLAMATION.

IN RECOGNITION OF THE CULTURAL AND HUMAN VALUES OF POETRY
AND POETIC EXPRESSION, THE GOVERNOR ANNUALLY SHALL PROCLAIM
OCTOBER 15 AS POETRY DAY.

(B) OBSERVANCE.

THE PROCLAMATION SHALL URGE
PATRIOTIC, AND RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS
PROPERLY.

CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL,
TO OBSERVE POETRY DAY

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, § 78.

In subsection (a) of this section, the duty to
proclaim Poetry Day "annually" is substituted for the
former duty to "proclaim and set aside in each year",
to clarify that this section imposes a continuing
duty. This substitution is based on practice.

In subsection (b) of this section, the duty to
"observe ... properly" is substituted for the former
reference to "proper and suitable observance", for
brevity.

Also in subsection (b) of this section, the former
reference to "agencies" is deleted as unnecessary in
light of the broad word "organizations".
