LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

"EVALUATION COMMITTEE" MEANS A COMMITTEE THAT IS APPOINTED
TO CARRY OUT AN EVALUATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to
standardize the references to these committees, which,
under the former provisions, were described as
"program evaluation committee[s]", "relevant
legislative committees", and "reviewing committees".

Defined term: "Evaluation" § 8-401

(D)  EVALUATION DATE.

"EVALUATION DATE" MEANS THE DATE ON WHICH AN EVALUATION OF A
GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITY OR UNIT IS TO BE COMPLETED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This 'subsection is new language added to
avoid repetition of former references such as "the
evaluation date of a board or government activity
under [former Art. 41,] § 486".

Defined terms: "Evaluation" § 8-401
"Governmental activity" § 8-401

(E)  GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITY.

"GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITY" MEANS A PROGRAM, SERVICE, OR OTHER
FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language substituted
for former Art. 41, § 485(b) and (d), which defined,
respectively, "[b]oard" and "[g]overnment activity" to
mean units, programs, services, or functions that are
subject to evaluation, but distinguished between the
provisions that required the evaluation. This
substitution allows the use of the defined term
"governmental activity" as a broad, general reference
to programs, services, and functions of government and
the use of the word "unit" in this subtitle in the
same manner that the word is used elsewhere in this
article. See the General Revisor's Note to this
article.

In those provisions of this subtitle in which the
former distinction between a "[b]oard" and
"[g]overnment activity" must be retained, a limiting
cross-reference is used.

8-402. FINDINGS; STATEMENT OF PURPOSE.

(A) FINDINGS.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FINDS THAT:
