LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

(2)  A DESIGNATION AS CHIEF DEPUTY TREASURER OR AS
DEPUTY TREASURER MAY BE TERMINATED:

(I) BY THE TREASURER FOR ANY REASON THAT THE
TREASURER CONSIDERS SUFFICIENT; OR

(II) IF THE TREASURER IS ILL OR ABSENT, BY THE
OTHER MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR ANY REASON THAT
THE MEMBERS CONSIDER SUFFICIENT.

(3)  A TERMINATION OF THE DESIGNATION AS CHIEF DEPUTY
TREASURER OR AS DEPUTY TREASURER IS NOT, OF ITSELF, A TERMINATION
OF EMPLOYMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first through
third and seventh through ninth sentences of former
Art. 95, § 7.

Subsection (a)(1) of this section is revised in
standard language used to provide for "staff".

The introductory phrase of subsection (a)(2) of this
section, "[w]hile on the staff," is substituted for
the former language "upon entering the performance of
the duties of said office," to clarify that a staff
member must have coverage throughout the time of
employment. This substitution also avoids the former
reference to "office", which was inaccurate since the
bond requirement applies to staff members who are not
officers.

In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the language "in
the form and amount required by law" is substituted
for the former, incomplete reference to Art. 78A, §§
46 through 50 of the Code. See also Art. 95, § 31 and
Art. 78A, § 10 of the Code.

Also in subsection (a)(2) of this section, the former,
specific examples of staff are deleted as unnecessary.

In the introductory language of subsection (b)(1) of
this section, the reference to "employees on the
staff" is substituted for the former, specific
references to "assistant[s]" and "clerk[s]", which no
longer corresponded to specific positions on the staff
of the Treasurer.

In subsection (b)(2)(i) of this section, the reference
to termination of the designation "for any reason that
the Treasurer considers sufficient" is substituted for
the former language "act as such only during the
pleasure of the Treasurer, and ... may be terminated
... for any cause which he may deem sufficient." This
