Ch. 108 2005 LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Estates and Trusts
8-106.
(b) Funeral expenses shall be allowed in the discretion of the court according
to the condition and circumstances of the decedent. In no event may the allowance
exceed [$5,000] $10,000 FOR AN ESTATE ADMINISTERED UNDER TITLE 5, SUBTITLE 3
OR SUBTITLE 4 OF THIS ARTICLE, OR $5,000 FOR A SMALL ESTATE ADMINISTERED
UNDER TITLE 5, SUBTITLE 6 OF THIS ARTICLE unless the estate of the decedent is
solvent and a special order of court has been obtained. If the estate is solvent and the
will expressly empowers the personal representative to pay the expenses without an
order of court, an allowance by the court is not required.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall be
construed to apply only prospectively and may not be applied or interpreted to have
any effect on or application to an estate of a decedent who dies before October 1, 2005.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2005.

(Senate Bill 61)
AN ACT concerning
Vehicle Laws - Trailers and Semitrailers - Registration
FOR the purpose of requiring that a nonfreight trailer or semitrailer with a certain
maximum gross weight limit that is titled on or after a certain date be
registered in a certain manner; and generally relating to the registration of
trailers and semitrailers.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
