OBJECTION TO THE SUFFICIENCY OF THE PETITION, MAY BE CONDUCTED WITHOUT
THE CHILD BEING PRESENT IF THE CHILD'S TESTIMONY IS NOT REQUIRED. (B)     (1) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION, ANY
STATEMENT MADE BY THE CHILD OR INFORMATION ELICITED DURING A
COMPETENCY HEARING OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE DETERMINATION OF
COMPETENCY UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, AND ANY REPORT PREPARED BY A QUALIFIED
EXPERT, MAY NOT BE ADMITTED IN EVIDENCE IN ANY PROCEEDING EXCEPT A
PROCEEDING RELATING TO THE CHILD'S COMPETENCY TO PROCEED. (2) PARAGRAPH (1) OF THIS SUBSECTION DOES NOT APPLY IF THE
COUNSEL FOR THE CHILD INTRODUCES THE REPORT OF THE QUALIFIED EXPERT, OR
ANY PART OF IT, IN ANY HEARING OTHER THAN A COMPETENCY HEARING. 3-8A-17.9. THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE AND THE SECRETARY OF
JUVENILE SERVICES SHALL JOINTLY ADOPT REGULATIONS TO CARRY OUT THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE RELATING TO COMPETENCY. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, beginning June 1,
2005, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in coordination with other
appropriate State agencies, shall work with the Judiciary to develop training for local
judges, juvenile masters, and representatives of relevant local agencies on services
available through the public mental health system and the developmental disabilities
system and on other available services. SECTION 2. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2005 December 31, 2005. Approved May 26, 2005.
CHAPTER 581
(House Bill 864) AN ACT concerning Carroll County - Hotel Rental Tax FOR the purpose of authorizing Carroll County to impose a hotel rental tax at not
more than a certain rate; providing that the hotel rental tax does not apply to
hotels in Carroll County with not more than a certain number of sleeping rooms;
requiring a hotel located in Carroll County to collect the tax and to file a certain
tax return and pay taxes collected on or before a certain date each month;
authorizing the Commissioners of Carroll County to determine whether a hotel
is eligible to receive a certain discount for administrative costs; requiring
