ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor                             Ch. 483 activities and exercises establishing the duties of the Task Force; requiring the
Task Force to submit certain reports; providing for the termination of this Act;
and generally relating to the Task Force to Implement Holocaust, Genocide,
Human Rights, and Tolerance Education at the University System of Maryland. SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That: (a)     There is a Task Force to Implement Holocaust, Genocide, Human Rights,
and Tolerance Education in the State. (b)     (1) The Task Force consists of the following members: (1) (i) two members of the Senate of Maryland, appointed by the
President of the Senate; (2) (ii) two members of the House of Delegates, appointed by the
Speaker of the House; (3)     (iii) the Secretary of the Maryland Higher Education Commission,
or the Secretary's designee; (4)     (iv) the Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, or the
Chancellor's designee; (v) the State Superintendent of Schools, or the Superintendent's
designee; and (5) (vi) the following members, appointed by the Governor: (i) 1. one professor of sociology at the University System of
Maryland; and (ii) two survivors of the Holocaust, or two children of survivors of
the Holocaust;
(iii) two survivors of Cambodian genocide; (iv) two survivors of Serbian genocide; and (v) two citizens of the State interested in the subject matter. (ii) 2. five members of the public who are residents of the State,
with preference given to: 1. A. individuals who have served prominently as
spokespersons for or as leaders of organizations serving members of religious, ethnic,
national heritage, or social groups that were subject to genocide, torture, wrongful
deprivation of liberty or property, officially imposed or sanctioned violence, or other
forms of human rights violations and persecution; 2. B. individuals who are involved in activities to enhance
the public's awareness of the Holocaust and genocide or who have demonstrated an
interest or involvement in the study of the Holocaust or genocide; and
