(DDD) THE PROVISIONS OF § 27-221 OF THE INSURANCE ARTICLE APPLY TO
HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATIONS.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an emergency
measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health or safety,
has been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from
the date it is enacted.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Pharmacy Discount Program - Expansion— State Discount -
Eligibility
FOR the purpose of expanding altering the eligibility requirements of the Maryland
Pharmacy Discount Program to include additional Medicare beneficiaries and
cover individuals who are not Medicare beneficiaries and lack other public or
private prescription drug coverage and have a certain annual household income;
authorizing enrollees in the Program to receive a certain discount subsidized by
the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for certain prescription drugs;
altering the discount provided to certain Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in the
Program; altering the price at which an enrollee may purchase certain
prescription drugs; requiring the Department, on or before a certain date, to
submit to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services an application for an
amendment to a certain demonstration waiver; requiring the Department to
apply for certain federal matching funds; providing that certain enrollees in the
Program may remain enrolled in the Program through a certain date if the
application for a certain amendment to a certain demonstration waiver is
approved; requiring the Department to forward a copy of a certain notice to the
Department of Legislative Services within a certain number of days after
receiving notice of the approval or denial of a certain waiver amendment
application; providing for the effective dates of this Act; providing for the
termination of this Act under certain circumstances; and generally relating to
the Maryland Pharmacy Discount Program.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
