Chapter 593 of the Acts of 1996, as amended by Chapter 566 of the Acts of
1999 and Chapter 370 of the Acts of 2002
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996. It shall remain effective for a period of [9] 12 years and, at the end
of September 30, [2005] 2008, with no further action required by the General
Assembly, this Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 2005.

AN ACT concerning
State Personnel - Grievance - Costs of Appeals to Office of Administrative
Hearings
FOR the purpose of requiring that the principal unit that employs a certain grievant
pay the costs of certain appeals of grievances to the Office of Administrative
Hearings; providing for a delayed effective date; and generally relating to
grievances and appeals to the Office of Administrative Hearings.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - State Personnel and Pensions
12-205.
(a) (1) Within 10 days after receiving a decision under § 12-204 of this
subtitle, a grievant or a grievant's representative may appeal the decision in writing
to the Secretary.
(2) An appeal shall include a copy of the decision being appealed and any
prior decisions.
(b) (1) Within 30 days after an appeal is received, the Secretary or designee
shall:
(i) review the grievance record;
