AN ACT concerning
State Fire Prevention Commission - Evacuation Assistance Symbol - Repeal
FOR the purpose of repealing the requirement that the State Fire Prevention
Commission develop a program to identify certain dwellings of certain occupants
who are unable to evacuate a building without certain assistance; repealing the
requirement that the State Fire Prevention Commission adopt certain
regulations to govern the distribution and use of certain symbols; and generally
relating to the State Fire Prevention Commission.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Public Safety
[9-504.
(a) The State Fire Prevention Commission shall develop a program to identify
by the display of a sign, sticker, or other appropriate symbol, the dwellings of
occupants who, because of age, blindness, disability, or physical or mental illness, are
unable to evacuate the building without assistance in case of fire..
(b) The Commission shall adopt regulations to govern the distribution and use
of the symbols described in subsection (a) of this section.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2005.
