SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Criminal Law
3-201.
(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.
(c) "Serious physical injury" means physical injury that:
(1) creates a substantial risk of death; or
(2) causes permanent or protracted serious:
(i) disfigurement;
(ii) loss of the function of any bodily member or organ; or
(iii) impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ.
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
5-637.1.
(A) IN THIS SECTION, "LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FATALITY REVIEW TEAM"
IS A TEAM ESTABLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 4, SUBTITLE 7 OF THE FAMILY
LAW ARTICLE.
(B) A PERSON WHO ACTS IN GOOD FAITH AND WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE
JURISDICTION OF A LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FATALITY REVIEW TEAM IS NOT
CIVILLY LIABLE FOR ANY ACTION AS A MEMBER OF THE LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
FATALITY REVIEW TEAM OR FOR GIVING INFORMATION TO, PARTICIPATING IN, OR
CONTRIBUTING TO THE FUNCTION OF THE LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FATALITY
REVIEW TEAM.

(b) "County" means a county of this State and, unless expressly provided
otherwise, Baltimore City.
4-501.
(b) (1) "Abuse" means any of the following acts:
(i) an act that causes serious bodily harm;
(ii) an act that places a person eligible for relief in fear of imminent
serious bodily harm;
(iii) assault in any degree;
