ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor                             Ch. 170 (f)      (1) The Department of Legislative Services shall provide staffing for the
committee. (2) The Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation shall report to
the committee on the condition of unemployment insurance in the State. (g)     A member of the committee may not receive compensation for serving on
the committee, but is entitled to reimbursement for expenses under the Standard
State Travel Regulations, as provided in the State budget. (h) The committee shall report its preliminary findings and recommendations
on or before December 31, 2005 and its final findings and recommendations on or
before December 31, 2006 to the Governor and, subject to § 2-1246 of the State
Government Article, to the General Assembly. SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 1 of this Act shall
take effect January 1, 2006 and shall apply to tax contributions due that are based on
taxable wages for calendar years beginning on January 1, 2006. SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 2 of this Act shall
take effect October 1, 2005 and shall apply to all claims filed establishing a new
benefit year on or after October 2, 2005. SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, except as provided in
Sections 4 and 5 of this Act, this Act shall take effect July 1, 2005. Section 3 of this Act
shall remain effective for a period of 1 year and 6 months and, at the end of December
31, 2006, with no further action required by the General Assembly, Section 3 of this
Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect. Approved April 26, 2005.
CHAPTER 170
(Senate Bill 747) AN ACT concerning Transportation - Vehicle Laws - Maximum Vehicle Width and Length FOR the purpose of providing for the calculation of the width of a motor home or
travel trailer; authorizing the State Highway Administration and local
authorities to restrict the width of vehicles traveling on certain highways in
their jurisdiction under certain circumstances; requiring the State Highway
Administration and local authorities to post certain signs if the width of vehicles
is limited; increasing the maximum length of a publicly owned rigid bus or Class
M motor home when operated on certain highways or routes; increasing the
maximum length of a certain maxi-cube vehicle; and generally relating to
vehicle laws and maximum vehicle widths and lengths. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, - 1085 -
