(B) THE INSTITUTION SHALL KEEP ON FILE THE LETTER OF
ACKNOWLEDGMENT REQUIRED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION WHILE
THE STUDENT ATTENDS THE INSTITUTION AND FOR 2 YEARS OR MORE AFTER THE
STUDENT COMPLETES THE COURSE.
(C) THE COMMISSION SHALL:
(1) CREATE A TEMPLATE FOR THE LETTER OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT
REQUIRED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION; AND
(2) POST THE TEMPLATE ON THE COMMISSION'S WEBSITE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2006.

(Senate Bill 274)
AN ACT concerning
Department of Natural Resources - Tidal Fish License Apprenticeship
Program
FOR the purpose of altering certain practical experience requirements for obtaining
an apprenticeship permit; providing for the application of certain provisions of
this Act; and generally relating to tidal fishing and apprenticeship permits.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Natural Resources
4-701.1.
(a) This section applies to a person who does not qualify for a license required
under Subtitle 2, Subtitle 7, Subtitle 8, Subtitle 9, or Subtitle 10 of this title, except
for a seafood dealer license, to be licensed to guide fishing parties or to catch, sell, buy,
process, transport, export, or otherwise deal in fish caught in tidal waters.
(b) Except as provided under subsection (h) of this section, the Department
may issue an apprenticeship permit to authorize a person to gain practical experience
in the presence of a tidal fish licensee regarding commercial fishing activities.
