Environment may enter into agreements with appropriate federal and local
governmental entities to assist in administering this subtitle.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October July 1, 2006.

AN ACT concerning
Higher Education - State Plan for Higher Education - Mission Statements -
Quadrennial Review
FOR the purpose of altering the cycle for the periodic review by the Maryland Higher
Education Commission of the State Plan for Higher Education and the
submission of its review to the Governor and to the General Assembly; altering
the time period for the president of each institution of higher education to
update the institution's mission statement; altering the time period for the
regional higher education centers to update the centers' mission statements; and
generally relating to the State Plan for Higher Education.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Education
11-105.
(b) (1) The Commission shall coordinate the overall growth and
development of postsecondary education in the State.
(2) (i) In consultation with the governing boards and agencies
concerned with postsecondary education in the State, the Commission shall develop
and periodically update an overall plan consistent with the Charter, known as the
State Plan for Higher Education, that shall identify:
1. The present and future needs for postsecondary education
and research throughout the State;
