ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor
Ch. 63
14-102. HOUSING COMMISSION OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY ESTABLISHED. THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY IS A PUBLIC BODY
CORPORATE AND POLITIC THAT: (1)      EXERCISES PUBLIC AND ESSENTIAL GOVERNMENTAL FUNCTIONS;
AND (2)      HAS ALL THE POWERS NECESSARY OR CONVENIENT TO CARRY OUT
THE PURPOSES OF THIS DIVISION II. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to state expressly what
was only implied in the former law — that the Housing Commission of
Anne Arundel County exists as a public body corporate and politic,
exercising public and essential governmental functions, and having all the
powers necessary or convenient to carry' out the purposes of this Division
II. 14-103. MEMBERSHIP. (A)     SEVEN COMMISSIONERS. THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY CONSISTS OF SEVEN
COMMISSIONERS, APPOINTED BY THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE. (B)     5-YEAR TERM. THE TERM OF A COMMISSIONER IS 5 YEARS. (C)     STAGGERED TERMS. THE TERMS OF THE COMMISSIONERS ARE STAGGERED AS REQUIRED BY THE
TERMS PROVIDED FOR COMMISSIONERS OF THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF ANNE
ARUNDEL COUNTY ON OCTOBER 1, 2006. (D)     SUCCESSION. A COMMISSIONER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN SERVES ONLY
FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND
QUALIFIES. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 44A, § 7-102. In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to seven commissioners,
"appointed by the County Executive" is new language added to state
expressly what was only implied in the former law — that the County
Executive is the official who has the authority to appoint commissioners of
the Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County. Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former phrase "[n]otwithstanding
§§ 1-202 through 1-204 of this article" is deleted as unnecessary, because
those sections — now revised at §§ 12-203 through 12-206 of this article
— do not conflict with subsection (a) of this section. - 485 -
