Department of Transportation to report to specified committees of the General
Assembly by December 1, 2007. Senate Bill 168, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House

Governor House Bill No. 1559 AN ACT concerning Vehicle Laws - Weight Violations on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Penalties FOR the purpose of establishing certain fines for certain vehicle weight limit
violations occurring on the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial (Chesapeake
Bay) Bridge or its appurtenant approaches under the jurisdiction of the
Maryland Transportation Authority; clarifyinglanguage requiring the
Department of Transportation to report to certain committees of the General
Assembly on or before a certain date; and generally relating to vehicle weight
limit violations and fines. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Annotated Code of Maryland
(2002 Replacement Volume and 2005 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Transportation 27-105. (a) (1) This section applies to any person charged with a violation of the
Maryland Vehicle Law for exceeding, as to any vehicle or combination of vehicles: (i) The maximum registered weight limit for which the vehicle or
combination is registered; (ii) Any statutory weight limit set forth in the Maryland Vehicle
Law; or (iii) The maximum weight limit imposed by signs which have been
placed to regulate the weight of any vehicle passing over any bridge or culvert as
