The Honorable Michael E. Busch
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed House Bill 1104 - Public Safety - Fire Companies - Limited Access to Private
Water Sources.
This bill authorizes a fire company, if there is no other water system available to
extinguish a fire or mitigate an emergency, to enter private property to obtain water
from a private water source to extinguish the fire or mitigate the emergency incident.
Senate Bill 662, which was passed by the General Assembly and allowed to go into
effect without my signature, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not
necessary for me to sign House Bill 1104.
Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
House Bill No. 1104
AN ACT concerning
Public Safety - Fire Companies - Limited Access to Private Water Sources
