ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor                             H.B. 78
(g) (1) A person sentenced under this section may petition for and be
granted parole if the person: (i) is at least 65 years old; and (ii) has served at least 15 years of the sentence imposed under this
section. (2) The Maryland Parole Commission shall adopt regulations to
implement this subsection. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2006.
May 26, 2006 The Honorable Michael E. Busch
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401 Dear Mr. Speaker: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed House Bill 78 - Hospitals - Comparable Evaluation System - Health
Care-Associated Infection Information.
This bill requires a comparable evaluation system established by the Maryland
Health Care Commission to include health care-associated infection information
from hospitals and requires the system to adhere, to the extent possible, to
recommendations regarding public reporting of health care-associated infections. Senate Bill 135, which was passed by the General Assembly and allowed to go into
effect without my signature, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not
necessary for me to sign House Bill 78. Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor House Bill No. 78 AN ACT concerning Hospitals - Comparable Evaluation System - Health Care-Associated Infection Information FOR the purpose of requiring a certain comparable evaluation system established by
the Maryland Health Care Commission to include health care-associated
infection information from hospitals; requiring the system to adhere, to the
extent possible, to certain recommendations regarding public reporting of health
care-associated infections; and generally relating to the inclusion of health - 3507 -
