COMMITTEE NOTE: Subsection (b)(1) of this section is amended to clarify that,
absent a disability, counsel is appointed for those over 10 years of age only
during their minority.

(b) A court may grant guardianship under this subtitle only for a [child]
MINOR.
COMMITTEE NOTE: Subsection (b) of this section is amended to substitute
"minor" for "child", to reinstate the former limitation on guardianship of
those under 18 years of age. As to "minor", see Art. 1, § 24 of the Code.

[In addition to any investigation required under § 5-3A-21 of this subtitle,
before] BEFORE ruling on a guardianship petition, a court may order any
investigation that the court considers necessary.

(b) A court may not enter a final order for guardianship under this subtitle
until the later of expiration of the time for:

the form of notice of objection to a show cause order is a response.

(a) A court may grant a guardianship of a child only if:
(1) each of the child's living parents consents:
(i) in writing; or
(ii) by failure to timely file notice of objection after being served
with a show cause order in accordance with this subtitle;
