House Bill 345, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 602.

AN ACT concerning
Caroline County - Orphans' Court Judges - Salaries
FOR the purpose of altering the annual salaries of the judges of the Orphans' Court
for Caroline County; providing that this Act does not apply to the salaries or
compensation of the incumbent judges of the Orphans' Court for Caroline
County; and generally relating to the salaries of the judges of the Orphans'
Court for Caroline County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(g)
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Estates and Trusts
2-108.
(g) Each of the judges of the Court for Caroline County shall receive an
annual salary [of $4,500] AS DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, BUT
NOT LESS THAN $5,000.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III, §
35 of the Maryland Constitution, this Act may not be construed to extend or apply to
the salary or compensation of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Caroline County in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary or compensation of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Caroline County shall
take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2006.
