Ch. 46 2006 LAWS OF MARYLAND
nonresidential facilities. The funds appropriated for this
purpose shall be administered in accordance with Article 83C,
Sections 4-101 through 4-106 (Statewide)................................... (B) Gang-Related Activity Prevention Grants. Provide funds to be
used to provide capital grants to public entities for the purpose of
improving public recreational facilities in areas experiencing, or
at imminent risk of experiencing, gang-related violence and
crime, subject to the following:
(1)    The Department of Juvenile Services shall administer the
grants, which shall be approved by the Legislative Policy
Committee before being provided to the grantees;
(2)    Capital grants may be awarded only to public county,
bi-county, or municipal agencies which operate recreational
facilities; and
(3)    Capital grants shall be awarded on a competitive basis for
improvements to recreational facilities giving consideration
to the following:
(a)    the degree to which the area in which a facility is
located is experiencing gang-related violence and
crime;
(b)    the extent to which the recreation facility implements,
or is integral to implementing, a strategy for reducing
gang-related violence and crime; and
(c)    the extent to which the specific capital project to be
funded is integral to the operation of the recreational
facility (Statewide)

preliminary plans for a new juvenile detention facility to replace
the detention facility currently located on the grounds of the
Charles H. Hickey, Jr. School........................................................ ZA00                          MISCELLANEOUS GRANT PROGRAMS (A) Catholic Charities. Provide a grant to the Board of Directors of
Associated Catholic Charities, Inc. to assist in the design and
construction of a new building to house Our Daily Bread,
Christopher Place, and St. Jude's Employment Center, and in
the design and renovation of an existing building to house My
Sister's Place, subject to the requirement that the grantee
provide an equal and matching fund for this purpose.
