Ch. 562                                    2006 LAWS OF MARYLAND or the auxiliary driving lamp or combination thereof on motor vehicles, other than
motorcycles OR MOTORIZED MINIBIKES, shall be so arranged that the driver may
select at will between distributions of light projected to different elevations, and the
lamps, in addition, may be so arranged that the selection can be made automatically,
subject to the following limitations:
(1) There shall be an uppermost distribution of light, or composite beam,
so aimed and of intensity to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least 450
feet ahead for all conditions of leading;
(2) There shall be a lowermost distribution of light, or composite beam,
so aimed and of sufficient intensity to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at
least 150 feet ahead; and
(3) On a straight level road under any condition of leading, none of the
high intensity portion of the beam may be directed to strike the eyes of an
approaching driver.
(b) Every new motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle OR MOTORIZED
MINIBIKE, registered in this State after January 1, 1955, which has multiple beam
road lighting equipment shall be equipped with a beam indicator, which shall be
lighted whenever the uppermost distribution of light from the headlamps is in use,
and may not otherwise be lighted.
(e) The indicator shall be so designed and located that, when lighted, it will be
readily visible without glare to the driver of the vehicle so equipped.
22-226. (a) At all times specified in § 22-201.1 of this subtitle, at least two lighted
lamps shall be displayed, one on each side, at the front of every motor vehicle other
than a motorcycle OR MOTORIZED MINIBIKE, except when the vehicle is parked
subject to the regulations governing lights on parked vehicles.
22-301. (b) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer, and any
combination of these vehicles, while operating on a highway in this State, shall be
equipped with brakes in compliance with the requirements of this title. All the
vehicles and combinations of vehicles shall be equipped with service brakes complying
with the performance requirements of § 22-302 of this subtitle and, except as
provided in subsection (1) of this section, adequate to control the movement of and to
stop and hold the vehicle under all conditions of leading, and on any grade incident to
its operation.
(c) (1) All the vehicles and combinations of vehicles, except motorcycles AND
MOTORIZED MINIBIKES, shall be equipped with parking brakes adequate to hold the
vehicle on any grade on which it is operated, under all conditions of loading, on a
surface free from snow, ice, or loose material.
(i) Except as provided in subsection (1) of this section, after June 1, 1971,
every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer, and every combination of
