Ch. 457                                    2006 LAWS OF MARYLAND (I) ONE SHALL BE A MEMBER OF THE SENATE OF MARYLAND,
APPOINTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE; (II) ONE SHALL BE A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
APPOINTED BY THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE; (III) ONE SHALL BE THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE OR THE SECRETARY'S DESIGNEE; (IV) ONE SHALL BE THE SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS OR THE
SECRETARY'S DESIGNEE; (V) ONE SHALL BE THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND
CORRECTIONAL SERVICES OR THE SECRETARYS DESIGNEE; AND (VI) ELEVEN SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR. (3) OF THE 11 MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR; (I) ONE SHALL BE AN INTERNIST; (II) ONE SHALL BE A HEMATOLOGIST, A HEPATOLOGIST, OR AN
INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPECIALIST; (III) ONE SHALL BE A CLINICAL RESEARCHER SPECIALIZING IN
DISEASES OF THE LIVER OR A REPRESENTATIVE FROM A RESEARCH HOSPITAL WHO
SPECIALIZES IN LIVER DISEASE; (IV) ONE SHALL BE AN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WORKER; (V) ONE SHALL BE A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC WHO HAS HEPATITIS
C OR IS A PATIENT ADVOCATE; (VI) ONE SHALL BE A VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED
FORCES WHO HAS HEPATITIS C; (VII) TWO SHALL BE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL
INDUSTRY; (VIII) ONE SHALL BE A NURSE PRACTITIONER OR AN EMERGENCY
DEPARTMENT NURSE; (IX) ONE SHALL BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE AMERICAN LIVER
FOUNDATION; AND (X) ONE SHALL BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE BALTIMORE CITY
HEALTH DEPARTMENT. (B) (1) THE TERM OF A MEMBER IS 3 YEARS. (2) AT THE END OF A TERM A MEMBER CONTINUES TO SERVE UNTIL A
SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED. (3) A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN SERVES
