AN ACT concerning
State Board of Barbers and State Board of Cosmetologists - Reinstatement
of Expired Permits
FOR the purpose of authorizing the State Board of Barbers and the State Board of
Cosmetologists to reinstate permits expired for a certain period of time if the
permit holder meets certain requirements; authorizing the Boards to establish
certain fees; specifying reinstatement procedures for certain expired permits;
and generally relating to the State Board of Barbers and the State Board of
Cosmetologists.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Business Occupations and Professions
4-506.1.
(A) THE BOARD MAY REINSTATE A BARBERSHOP PERMIT THAT HAS EXPIRED
IF THE OWNER OF THE BARBERSHOP:
(1) APPLIES TO THE BOARD FOR REINSTATEMENT WITHIN 45 DAYS
AFTER THE PERMIT EXPIRES;
(2) OTHERWISE MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF § 4-506(C) OF THIS
SUBTITLE; AND
(3) PAYS TO THE BOARD A REINSTATEMENT FEE ESTABLISHED BY THE
BOARD IN ACCORDANCE WITH § 4-206 OF THIS TITLE, IN ADDITION TO THE RENEWAL
FEE REQUIRED UNDER § 4-506(C)(2) OF THIS SUBTITLE.
(B) IF AN OWNER OF A BARBERSHOP HAS FAILED TO RENEW A BARBERSHOP
PERMIT AND APPLIES TO THE BOARD FOR REINSTATEMENT MORE THAN 45 DAYS
AFTER THE PERMIT HAS EXPIRED, THE BOARD SHALL REINSTATE THE PERMIT ONLY
