Ch. 281                                    2006 LAWS OF MARYLAND has been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from
the date it is enacted. Approved May 2, 2006.
CHAPTER 281
(Senate Bill 896) AN ACT concerning Commission on the Establishment of a Maryland Women in Military Service Monument FOR the purpose of establishing a Commission on the Establishment of a Maryland
Women in Military Service Monument; providing for the composition and
staffing of the Commission; specifying the duties of the Commission; providing
certain reimbursement for travel expenses; requiring the Commission to refer to
a certain report; requiring the Commission to submit a preliminary report on its
findings and recommendations on or before a certain date; requiring the
Commission to submit a final report on its findings and recommendations on or
before a certain date; providing for the termination of this Act; and generally
relating to a Commission on the Establishment of a Maryland Women in
Military Service Monument. Preamble WHEREAS, Many women of Maryland served in the uniformed forces of the
United States; and WHEREAS, The creation of the Maryland Women in Military Service
Monument would recognize those women and ensure that their contributions,
dedication, valor, and sacrifice will be remembered and honored; and WHEREAS, The people of Maryland want to recognize and pay special tribute
to the brave women from the State who have served in the military; and WHEREAS, The people of Maryland want to establish a lasting tribute so that
future generations of citizens will note the courage and sacrifice of those Maryland
women who served our nation in uniform; now, therefore, SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That: (a)     There is a Commission on the Establishment of a Maryland Women in
Military Service Monument. (b)     The Commission consists of the following members: - 1576 -
