ITS BELIEFS may not be required to collect cord blood [if the collection of cord blood
conflicts with the bona fide religious practices and beliefs of the hospital or hospital
employee]. [(e) This section may not be construed to require a hospital to arrange for the
donation of blood extracted from umbilical cords.] (F) (1) THE DEPARTMENT. IN CONSULTATION WITH OBSTETRICIANS. THE
MARYLAND HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION. AND INTERESTED GROUPS. SHALL DEVELOP
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS CONCERNING THE VALUES. USES. AND DONATION OF
UMBILICAL CORD BLOOD FOR THE PURPOSES OF PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS
SUBSECTION. (2) EACH OBSTETRICIAN AND HOSPITAL THAT PROVIDES OBSTETRICAL
SERVICES SHALL DISTRIBUTE THE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS DESCRIBED IN
PARAGRAPH (1) OF THIS SUBSECTION TO PREGNANT PATIENTS. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2006. Approved May 2, 2006.

AN ACT concerning
Education State Department of Education - Comprehensive Induction
Program for Now Teachers Programs - Guidelines FOR the purpose of establishing a comprehensive induction program in the State
Department of Education for now teachers employed by hard to staff schools;
requiring that the comprehensive induction program include mentoring,
professional development training and support, and formal assessments of
teachers participating in the program; requiring the Department to adopt
certain regulations to implement the comprehensive induction program;
requiring that funding for the comprehensive induction program be as provided
in the State budget; and generally relating to establishing a comprehensive
induction program in the State Department of Education
requiring the State
Department of Education to develop certain guidelines for the establishment of
comprehensive induction programs for new teachers employed by certain
hard-to-staff schools: requiring the guidelines to include certain provisions concerning mentoring, professional development training and support, eligibility criteria, and certain other standards: requiring that funding for the
development of the guidelines be as provided in the State budget: and generally
relating to the State Department of Education and guidelines for comprehensive
