AN ACT concerning
District Court Jurisdiction
FOR the purpose of altering the jurisdiction of the District
Court over certain offenses.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 4-302(e)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
4-302.
(e) Except as provided in Subtitle 5 of this title, the
District Court does not have jurisdiction of an offense otherwise
within the District Court's EXCLUSIVE jurisdiction if a person is
charged with [an] ANOTHER offense IN THE CIRCUIT COURT arising
from the same circumstances [but not within the District Court's
jurisdiction]. In this case, the circuit court for the county
has exclusive original jurisdiction over all the offenses.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983.
