(Senate Bill 536)
AN ACT concerning
Racing Reform Act of 1983
Racing - Mile and Half-Mile Tracks
FOR the purpose of providing for a change in the rates of State
tax and amounts allocated to purse money and to the
racetracks from betting at mile racetracks; providing for
transfer of half-mile racing days for running at mile
tracks, subject to certain conditions, for certain annual
payments to be made to a track and to a local government,
and for changes in the distribution of half-mile racing
revenues; changing the size and composition of the Maryland
Racing Commission; providing for its powers and duties; and
creating racing administrators and providing for their
powers and duties; changing the requirements for running of
half-mile racing days; providing for certain Sunday mile
track racing; correcting errors eliminating the requirement
that certain racing meetings be held in connection with
county fairs or agricultural exhibitions; and removing
obsolete language in the racing laws of this State.
