AN ACT concerning
Salvage Vehicles
FOR the purpose of allowing an automotive dismantler and recycler
to apply for a salvage certificate on payment of a certain
fee under certain conditions; making a certain exception;
redefining certain terms; providing for the issuance of a
duplicate salvage certificate; requiring the Motor Vehicle
Administration to keep certain records under this Act for
certain purposes; and generally relating to acquiring title
to certain salvaged vehicles.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Transportation
11-152.
"Salvage" [describes only vehicles that have no marketable
value, other than the value of the basic materials of which the
vehicles are made.] MEANS ANY VEHICLE THAT:
(1) HAS BEEN CRUSHED, FLATTENED, OR OTHERWISE REDUCED
TO A STATE THAT ITS RESTORATION WOULD REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF
3 OR MORE MAJOR COMPONENT PARTS, OR IS INOPERABLE DUE TO THE NEED
FOR MAJOR OR EXTENSIVE REPAIRS TO THE BODY, FRAME, SUSPENSION,
ENGINE OR DRIVE TRAIN;
