2198                                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                                        Ch. 674 (b) For each Class D (motorcycle) vehicle, the annual
registration fee is [$10] $12.50 $15.00. 16-508. (a) (1) There is a Driver Education Account in the
Transportation Trust Fund. (2)  All fees collected for the issuance of new
drivers' licenses under § 16.111.1(a) of this article, EXCEPT FOR
CLASS E DRIVERS' LICENSES: (i) Shall be deposited in the Transportation
Trust Fund; and (ii) Are not subject to the provisions of Title
8, Subtitle 4 of this article on the disposition of highway user
revenues. (3)  That part of these fees not required by any
lawful pledge, covenant, dedication, or commitment for the annual
debt service on any bonds referred to in § 3-216(e) of this
article shall be deposited in the Driver Education Account and
disbursed in accordance with this section. SUBTITLE 6. MOTORCYCLE SAFETY PROGRAM 16-601. (A)   IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED. (B)   "MOTORCYCLE SAFETY TRAINING CENTER" MEANS A PLACE
DESIGNATED BY THE ADMINISTRATION WHERE A MOTORCYCLE SAFETY
TRAINING COURSE IS OFFERED BY THE OPERATOR OF THE CENTER WHO HAS
BEEN APPROVED BY THE ADMINISTRATION AND HAS ENTERED INTO A
CONTRACT WITH THE ADMINISTRATION AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE. (C)   "MOTORCYCLE SAFETY COURSE" AND "COURSE" MEAN APPROVED
COURSE OF INSTRUCTION PROVIDED BY A MOTORCYCLE SAFETY TRAINING
CENTER IN THE USE AND OPERATION OF MOTORCYCLES, INCLUDING
INSTRUCTION IN THE SAFE ON-ROAD OPERATION OF MOTORCYCLES, THE
RULES OF THE ROAD, AND THE LAWS OF THIS STATE RELATING TO MOTOR
VEHICLES. 16-602. (A)  THERE IS A MOTORCYCLE SAFETY PROGRAM AS A PART OF THE
HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM OF THIS STATE. (B)  THE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBTITLE IS TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY
OF MOTORCYCLISTS THROUGH A PROGRAM OF CYCLIST TRAINING TO IMPROVE
RIDER SKILLS AND TO GENERALLY PROVIDE FOR A PUBLIC AWARENESS
EFFORT THAT WILL BENEFIT ALL HIGHWAY USERS.
